1.Look up and write down the meaning of the following words or expressions: democracy, sovereignty, people, participation, representation, consent, public opinion, suffrage, political party.

2.Analize and relate the words people and territory; make examples of peoples deprived of their territories and stress the problems caused by it

3.Analize the juridical definition of democracy by N. Bobbio (all.3.1) and verify if the forms of government which are considered democratic follow the flow from the bottom upwards about which he speaks.

4.After analizing the texts (all,3.2-3.3) answer the following questions:
-what are the characteristics of sovereign body?
-what is the nature and the function of legitimate assemblies?
-what relationship must exist between obedience and freedom?
-what limitations does people sovereignty undergo?
-where are the positions of the two authors different?

Objectives

- To understand and judge the importance which the citizens’ behaviour concretely acquire, in a social context, in exercising rights and duties
- To know the ideological and political evolution of constitutional system according to the concepts: freedom-contract-democracy
- to know the concepts of State-Territory-Citizenship-
