the reason why we are all here today is because we feel the need to work at the construction of a truly European conscience, one that is above all nationalism, one that will enable us to call ourselves "European Citizens".
We choose this particular issue because of its topical importance, during the course of the year, the proposal for the "Constitution of the European Union" will be elaborated and we feel that, as the younger generation, we have a particularly high interest in the topics of instruction and labour.

The issues are of primary importance, with their rights and duties, and must so be considered in any democratic state.

The method we used to try and achieve a comprehensive picture was first, the analisysis of the contitutional text of the different nations and the proposals for laws relative to instruction and labour, in order to find the points in common, but even more important, to evidentiate the differences wich may be useful, to enrich and integrate the final product.

We compared the different constitutions and the work presented by the various schools.

We then collected all this material and condensed it. The final sintesys is what we are here presenting.

The matters that we took into account were: firstly the historical components of Europe, we then looked at the past attempts at unification and the moments of friction.

We examined what happened in Europe after Maastricht and discussed the importance of citizenship.

We studied the evolution of the modern state: from subject to citizen.

We learnt the that the fundamental law of the state is the "Constitution".

We discovered how Europe has developed from "absolutism" to "constitutionalism".

The purpose of all this work was to become aware of the valuable contribution that the cultural diffrences, which cannot be disregarded, can bring to the construction of a really united "Europe".

We wanted to acknowledge the immense spiritual and moral Patrimony, the high value given to human dignity, the freedom and solidarity, on which the European Union is founded.

The methods we used were the experimentations, in work groups, of confrontation, comparison, discussion and debate. This has enriched and fortified us, it has made us aware, helped us to realize, the enormous importance of the role that Europe could have in bringing about "world peace".

We also tested an educational method and teaching program that may enable the process of integration to begin.
